about

Travel back in time to our very first live performance as the acoustic trio 'Will Folk For Food', a guerrilla street-performance experiment designed to recontextualize Hungarian iconoclast Bela Bartok's 44 violin duets by presenting them to an unsuspecting public. Bartok's radical musical ideas are infused in these brief (some less than 30 seconds) compositions disguised as quirky Eastern-European folk-tunes, which we've transplanted to the street corner with the addition of a percussionist. Interspersed are our extended arrangements thereof, which we hope maintain the spirit, if nothing else, of the originals.

THE BOOTLEGGED SERIES is a 5-CD set of Shubbaluliuma's earliest recordings, selected from all known sources to date, raw and unedited. Each volume offers up a unique perspective on the musical stylings of this eclectic electric trio, ranging from genre-bending arrangements and compositions-on-compositions of the violin duets by Bela Bartok to completely uncharted improvisational excursions, from one of the group's first live shows in completia to what happens when they play folk-music, and one musical "teasing" game designed to gradually self-destruct in new ways every time it is played. Audiophiles be damned, this is fresh music without all of the digital preservatives.
